2017 Awards
The Inaugural SNI Wood Council Awards to celebrate success in our sector were held on Friday 26 May at the Awapuni Conference Centre.
About 240 members' friends and families, along with sponsors came along to listen to the Associate Minister for Forestry, Hon Louise Upston launch the evening.
MC Jamie McKay kept the guests amused and ensured that the evening ran to plan.
8 Awards were presented by the Award sponsors.
The Guest Speaker was Davey Hughes, founder of Swazi Clothing and well-known raconteur, who kept the audience amused after dinner.
A most enjoyable evening, with members relishing the chance to mix with colleagues in a convivial atmosphere with a few drinks and a very nice meal.

Training Contractor of the Year, Amanda Horne & the Team from Horne Bros Ltd, receiving their Award from Sean McBride, representing sponsor Juken New Zealand Ltd.
The Award for Harvesting Excellence went to Matt Omundsen of Havard Logging. He was presented with his plaque & certificate by Steve Couper, representing sponsor Ernslaw One Ltd.
The Award for Forestry Excellence was presented to Richard Hotter, of Hotter Forest Services, by Cam Eyre, representing sponsor NZ Forestry Ltd.
Melissa Hall, of McCarthy Transport, received her Distribution Excellence Award from Minister Louise Upston. McCarthy Transport Ltd were the sponsor of this Award.
The Outstanding Health & Safety Management Award was sponsored by FOMS. Mark McCarthy, representing his team at McCarthy Transport Ltd, was presented the Award by Chris Maher of FOMS.
The Award for Contractor of the Year was won by Bushline Forest Harvesting.
